Engineering Manager - Platform Engineering (Remote from Europe or UK)

Mission behind the role
In this role, you will lead, grow, and inspire a newly formed platform engineering team, shaping the future of our internal developer experience and driving operational excellence across our systems. As a key leader, you will ensure that our team combines best practices from SRE, DevOps, Internal Developer Platforms (IDP), and security, creating a seamless, self-service developer experience that empowers teams to deliver with speed and reliability.
What will you be doing?
You will have 9 direct reports consisting of platform engineers and DBAs, some of which you will be hiring once you start in the role, others will come from existing teams. You will report to the VP of Engineering.
You will be responsible for building and promoting a “golden path” approach—establishing clear standards, tools, and processes—that enables our teams to innovate confidently, while maintaining compliance and security. Collaborating with stakeholders, you’ll prioritise the right investments in automation and strategic projects, making measured decisions that ensure our platform scales efficiently.
As the leader of this team, you’ll ensure appropriate SLAs and SLOs are defined and enforced, while maintaining a platform-first mindset to balance operational efficiency, developer productivity, and security. This role is central to ensuring we deliver a robust and scalable service while providing an exceptional developer experience.
Ideal candidates will have:
Experience leading high performing Platfrom, SRE, or DevXP teams
Prior experience building and running applications in AWS (coding is not required in the role but Engineering leaders are expected to be technical enough to get into the details and participate in architecture discussions their teams)
Growth mindset, curious to learn about card issuing and the payments industry
Excellent communication in English and adept at writing cogent strategy and vision documents to drive alignment across the business
Experience setting and managing systems with strict SLAs
Experience applying observability and traceability best practices
Experience leading vulnerability and penetration testing activities and designing fixes for any issues found
Nice to have but not vital to have experience with the following:
Prior background in payments industry
Experience using AWS CDK for cloud deployments
Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines with Gitlab is a plus
AWS professional certifications

We will put emphasis on your previous work experience, your ability to communicate, code and design effectively, through 3 short interviews with some Enfuce engineers, and several opportunities to ask questions and learn about Enfuce along the way.
